Welcome to my blog site and the new official home of Photography by Bobby. I recently closed down my flash site and moved to this site instead after having become attracted to the blog format. Although it is rather bare right now, it will quickly grow, so check back often!

I know, I am terrible at updating my site with portraits. Sometimes you just have so much going on that some things lag behind a bit.  But I wanted to take the time to share this.  I was reading about this charity called 100cameras. I really like what they do, so I decided that for 2013 I'm going to donate a portion of the profits from each of my portrait sessions to this charity. They are a fairly new organization, but I like how they use photography to help kids, so I'm going to help them :)  You can check out their website at 100cameras.org to learn more about them  :)

~ NO MAKEUP PROJECT ~
 

I've decided to do a photography project in which I take portraits of girls between the ages of 12 and 20 who are wearing absolutely no makeup. No eye shadow/liner, no blush, no lipstick, no foundation, nothing. There will also be very little (if any) retouching done in order for you to retain your natural beauty. There are so many girls out there that possess a natural beauty, yet cover it up with makeup every day. Be proud of who you really are, girls! You're all gorgeous!

Since this is a personal project, I will not be charging a sitting fee for the girls who take part. However, donations are always appreciated to cover any travel expenses. Also note that this is a volunteer thing, so there will be no monetary compensation for participating. However...

If I get a big enough response to this (and so far the response is huge!), I will be listing my project on Kickstarter to raise funds to turn my project into a book. If my attempt to raise funds is successful, each model who participates and is included in the book (provided they sign a model release...see below) will receive a free copy.

Note: Each girl who volunteers to be photographed for the project will be required to sign a general model release (or their parents if they are under 18) at the time of their shoot.

Since the weather is starting to warm up a bit, I will be starting to shoot soon. I do not currently have a time frame as to which the project will be finished. It depends on how many girls participate. If you have been added to the list, be patient, you will be called when I am ready to photograph you.

Wow, has it been that long since my last post?? Guess I've been pretty busy :) Will be updating the site after the Thanksgiving holiday with some of my most recent shoots. Until then, have a Happy Thanksgiving!  :)

Tip: When looking for a portrait photographer and browsing their work, look at their subject's eyes. If the eyes aren't consistently sharp throughout their portfolio, then pass on them. This is Portrait Photography 101 and essential to a great portrait.

Not long ago I had the opportunity to do a shoot involving a beautiful girl and colorful paint. I've always wanted to do a shoot like this, but until now have never had anyone that seemed interested in trying it. Thanks, Morgan, for being so awesome!

The portraits I create aren't amazing because of the camera I use or the software I edit with. The portraits I create are amazing because of the people in them.
